Serving The Community
I’m running for Mayor of Hamtramck because I care deeply about this community and believe in its tremendous potential. Our city deserves leadership that is honest, transparent, and truly connected to the people it serves.
After living in Hamtramck for 27 years, I’ve seen both the strengths and struggles of our community. I’ve listened to residents who feel unheard or overlooked, and I share their desire for leadership that reflects their values, addresses their concerns, and builds trust through open and effective communication.
I believe it's essential that our city officials not only understand city operations but also connect meaningfully with the people of Hamtramck. Having strong communication skills and deep roots in the community makes a real difference when it comes to making informed decisions and truly representing local interests.
For years, friends, neighbors, and community leaders have encouraged me to step up and serve. I’m doing so now because I want to be a voice for unity, progress, and accountability.
As a proud Muslim, I also feel a responsibility to reflect the true values of our faith—peace, justice, and compassion. Our leadership should bring people together, not create division. It’s time for a renewed vision—one where every resident feels respected, represented, and empowered.
Together, we can build a stronger, more united Hamtramck.

Full Name: Khandaker Showkat Hossain
I have been a proud resident of Hamtramck since February 1998. I graduated from Hamtramck High School in 2001 and went on to earn my degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) from Wayne State University in 2005. Currently, I work at Stellantis (formerly Chrysler) as a Validation Project Chief (VPC).
My family heritage is rooted in Tangail, Dhaka, Bangladesh, and my in-laws are from Beanibazar, Sylhet, Bangladesh. I am married and blessed with two children who are currently enrolled in the Hamtramck public school system.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy a range of hobbies including motorcycling, fishing, hunting, boating, swimming, camping, kayaking, car repair, and home improvement.
I am an active member of the local Muslim community. I pray Fajr and Isha daily at Al Islah Islamic Center and perform Zohr, Asr, and Maghrib at various local mosques, depending on my work schedule.
